Abortion in Military Hospitals
On May 27th, the Senate Armed Services Committee passed an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization bill which would allow abortions to be conducted at military hospitals. Senator Collins, although a member of the committee, did not vote on this particular motion.

Capital Campaign Raises $42 Million
The Diocesan Capital Campaign officially comes to an end June 30th. With a two-year goal of $40 million dollars, the Diocese is reporting total pledges of $42.2 million.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland has opened up accounts on both Facebook and Twitter. Any diocesan office, parish office or Catholic institution may submit articles to the diocesan Facebook/Twitter account. Items that are in keeping with the Church’s teachings will be included.
