Benedict the Brave
We’re beginning to think that Pope Benedict XVI may be one of the bravest men around. Not forgetting that John Paul the Great was instrumental in taking taking down the Soviet Union, and even took a muslim bullet, he was, by-and-large, universally loved and adored, certainly by Catholics, and perhaps as important, by non-Catholics.
The Daily Chesterton, August 31
“[No society can survive the socialist] fallacy that there is an absolutely unlimited number of inspired officials and an absolutely unlimited amount of money to pay them.” – The Debate with Bertrand Russell, BBC Magazine, 11/27/35
Obama’s Soft Bigotry Against Christianity

The Daily Chesterton, August 27
“The reformer is always right about what is wrong. He is generally wrong about what is right.”

I first met Mother Teresa in 1986, when I spent a summer in India helping to serve the poorest of the poor. Mother Teresa had invited anyone with “hands to serve and a heart to love” to join her in her work among the destitute and dying – and I showed up at her doorstep in Calcutta with my hands, my heart, and a willingness to serve…
Catholics for Sameness
One of the reasons we started CatholicMaine was to provide a local Catholic voice that would actually be supportive of the Church’s teachings. Maine has more than its fair share of vocal dissenters, and some have even gone national. Take for example the latest group of Catholics gone wild…
